Presentation: Secrets of the Cal Academy w/ Total SF - Earthquakes, a Sharksicle & Monarch the Bear
San Francisco Chronicle Culture Critic Peter Hartlaub and California Academy of Sciences Head Librarian Rebekah Kim present the latest Total SF event at the library. If graffiti is an art form that demands respect or recognition, why not respect the work of the construction worker who built a wall, the architect who created a building, or muralists who painted a mural? I can't imagine covering up someone else's work is okay.

They should be grateful someone added a bit of colour to their grey walls. How do you think most mural artists start off?
An architect is building spaces to be used. It’s a use of the space. A muralist is a graffiti artist who got over. No one expression is inherently more important to than the other and graffiti should be respected as one
